  • The major product of wonji/shoa sugar factory is white sugar. Production process that takes sugar cane as input to process and convert into plantation white sugar or BC sugar or raw sugar to meet requirements of different market segments.

Sugar Production Process:

    1. Harvesting: Sugarcane is harvested either by hand or machine
    2. Extraction: The juice is extracted from sugarcane by crushing
    3. Purification: The juice is clarified to remove impurities, often by adding lime and heating.

3. Crystallization: The purified juice is concentrated by boiling, and sugar crystals form as the liquid evaporates.

4. Separation: The crystals are separated from the liquid (molasses) using centrifuges

5. Refining: The raw sugar is further refined to produce white sugar, involving washing, filtering, and additional crystallization.

Types of Sugar:

  1. Granulated Sugar: The most common form of sugar, used in baking, cooking, and sweetening beverages.
  2. Brown Sugar: Granulated sugar with molasses added, giving it a moist texture and a rich, caramel flavor. It comes in light and dark varieties.
  3. Powdered Sugar (Confectioners’ Sugar): Finely ground granulated sugar mixed with a small amount of cornstarch to prevent clumping. It’s commonly used in icings and confections.
